Guidelines for Submitting Final SCEC Technical Report
Due Date: March 1, 2002
What should be reported:
- Major Research Accomplishments
- Infrastructure Development/Acquisition
- Education and Knowledge Transfer
Note: If you have been funded for multiple projects, submit a separate report for each project.
What your report should include:
I. Major Scientific Accomplishments in all three categories.
A. A one page summary presenting the major accomplishments of your SCEC-funded research over the entire history of SCEC support. You may include bullets as appropriate.
B. An expanded section (up to 5 pages of text, with additional figures) describing the principal accomplishments of your SCEC-funded research (with emphasis on your most recent work). Please pay specific attention to those outcomes that could not have been realized without the Center mode of support, i.e., the major accomplishments that were enabled by the "added value" of Science and Technology Center funding through SCEC. You should also note any important aspirations that failed to materialize. Any observations that you may have as to why various accomplishments were achieved, or aspirations failed to occur, would be helpful. Infrastructure facility reports should include information and statistics on the users of the facility (including use by non-center personnel). Note: Any animations or video clips that you have would be very important. Send these as additional files or provide web addresses.
II. Major Outreach Accomplishments of Particular Note.
A. Using one page:
- information on educational accomplishments;
- Knowledge Transfer accomplishments to industry, other centers, government agencies, internationally, etc.; and
- How your research benefited from the infrastructure facilities supported by SCEC such as the SCEC Data Center, PBIC, Strong Motion Database, SCIGN, WInSAR, Pinon Flat, TERRAscope, etc.
B. A list of SCEC-supported publications that are not already in the SCEC publication database. Please check this database (http://www.scec.org/research/papers) for completeness.
III. Appendices.
A. A list of M.S. and Ph.D. students who graduated during the lifetime of SCEC, with placement.
B. A list of Post-Doctoral Associates who worked with you on SCEC activities during the lifetime of SCEC, and placement.
C. Any awards or honors that you received based (wholly, or in part), on SCEC-funded research.
D. Human Dimensions that were essential to the success of your projects leadership, management, students, participation by underrepresented groups, etc.
