Intern Programs Home ACCESS SURE UseIT
The intern application process for 2009 is now closed. Download the SCEC 2009 Internship Programs flyer (1.2 MB PDF) SCEC offers three internship programs for college students from freshman to master's level. Use the tabs above, and links on the right, to learn more about all our internship programs. Very generally: SCEC/ACCESS (Advancement of Cyberinfrastructure Careers through Earthquake System Science) interns are seniors or master's students who conduct research and write a thesis in certain SCEC research areas at the intersection of earthquake system science and computer science. SCEC/SURE (Summer Undergraduate Research Experience) interns are primarily juniors or seniors and most projects are best suited for students majoring in earth science or a related field. SURE interns are paired one-on-one with a SCEC scientist at that researcher's institution or field site, to work within that scientist's field of specialty. SCEC/USEIT (Undergraduate Studies in Earthquake Information Technology) interns must be a sophomore, junior, or senior in Fall 2010. USEIT interns work on collaborative teams at SCEC headquarters at the University of Southern California and conduct computer science research to benefit earthquake science.
