Includes plans to coordinate field experiences for teachers by expanding the ""Amateur Seismologists"" program; coordinate in development of earth science curricula for middle and high school level students. |

1999: Plate Boundary Observatory 2000: SCEC CEO director Andrews co-sponsored and led a workshop at East Coast AGU meeting on use of new technologies to improve mitigation in urban areas subject to seismic activity. PBO Workshop: Convenors: SCEC, NSF Division of Earth Sciences, UNAVCO, IRIS, NASA, USGS, and IGPP. Attendance: 127. |

Andrea Donnellan delivered several seminars at universities and also guest lectured in classes at USC. She gave speeches at several elementary, junior high, and high schools. Ken Hurst volunteered at a local high school and helped out with the laboratory segment of their physics course. Greg Lyzenga also has given talks at schools and insurance companies, and has been working on web pages and brochures regarding the use of GPS in earthquake research. Michael Heflin's time series site is mirrored by a school in New York which uses the GPS data in math and science related activities. |
