WSSPC:


1995: ""One Year After Northridge"" workshop cosponsored with OES, at the release of ""Seismic Hazards in Southern California: Probable Earthquakes, 1994-2024."" ~300 scientists, engineers, public officials, planners and responders attended. Media organizations covered the event. WSSPC conducted its LA Area Workshop simultaneously, and SCEC organized a field trip for WSSPC attendees to the SCEC Data Center and faults of LA.

-1998-1999 SCEC and WSSPC collaborated to launched EqIP web site (EQNet)

-2000: Earthquakes and Insurance Workshop Series planned in concert with WSSPC: objective is to provide a forum for insurance industry representatives, earth scientists, engineers, and policy officials to discuss key issues of earthquake insurance. SCEC and WSSPC will restart its Insurance Workshop series in 2001. Issues: public maps usage; interpretation of maps and software for loss estimation purposes; collection of input on tools; CEA updates; updates on seismicity.

-2000: Earthquake Studies and the Civic Scientist: This project has 3 components: 1) workshops in partnership with the Western States Seismic Policy Council (WSSPC) to educate earth scientists, earthquake engineers and Public Information Officers on how to better communicate with reporters, writers, and the public; 2) reporters', writers', PIOs' information packets; and 3) duplicate and mount the materials on the WWW.

-Andrews is a member of the Economic Impacts Committee of WSSPC, which meets in conjunction with the WSSPC annual meeting to examine issues related to public policy planning and earthquake insurance.
