John Marquis: Web-based Earth science education modules

John Marquis has participated in outreach and education activities for the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC) for the past six years. As one of the first class of SCEC Summer Interns in 1994, he produced a touch-screen computer display of earthquake information for visitors to the Caltech Seismological Laboratory. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Caltech in 1995, he became a webmaster for the SCEC Data Center. In addition to creating numerous interactive maps and animations for the Data Center's web site, he authored an online educational module in seismology used by high-school and college students (and interested members of the public) across the nation. Currently he works at the SCEC Outreach office at the University of Southern California, developing online resources for a variety of projects in earthquake-related education and outreach.
