The Worldwide Database of Earthquake Recurrence from Paleoseismological Data within the International Lithosphere Program is a project to contribute to a better understanding of how earthquakes recur through time and, thus, of the seismic cycle. This has a critical impact on seismic hazard assessment and this contribution is a great responsibility for the scientific community. More information can be found in the ILP II-5 homepage at http://io.ingrm.it/sfit/ILP_II-5_homepage.htm. After a year of discussion and exchanges a final WEB form to be used to compile the Database can be found at the following address: http://geohazards.cr.usgs.gov/ilp. The project is inviting contributions, and all will be fully acknowledged and have access to the data. The first version of the Database will be presented at the International Geological Congress next August, 2000 and the project expects to have collected a large quantity of data by June 2000.
