SCEC's Internship Programs: Summer 2009
This past summer, fifty-one students from around the country interned for the Southern California Earthquake Center. Although most interns came from southern California, many were from far away states such as Pennsylvania, Georgia, Ohio, and Texas. What makes the internship program at SCEC so unique is the flexibility and range of opportunity SCEC provides its interns. Spanning across three separate internship programs, SCEC incorporates all fields of college students who range in year from freshman to master's level.

Southern California Earthquake Center's New "Take on the Quake!" Program
This summer the Southern California Earthquake Center will open a three-hour earthquake science and preparedness education program to youth between grades six through twelve. The “Take on the Quake!” program is specifically designed for Boy Scout and Girl Scout groups but will be open to any other youth groups who are interested in the program as well. Because California is known as “Earthquake Country” the “Take on the Quake!” program will play an important role in informing students about earthquake preparedness as well as teaching them how and why earthquakes occur.
