Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

About Me Publications
Dr. Duan's current research interests focus on earthquake source physics, particularly earthquake rupture dynamics on geometrically complex fault systems within complex geologic structures, and extend to physics-based strong ground motion prediction and seismic hazard analysis. He has developed an explicit Finite Element Method code (EQdyna) and has applied it to explore physical controls on earthquake dynamic rupture propagation and to simulate ground motion. He is also interested in unifying the dynamic model and the quasi-static deformation model to study various slip behaviors over earthquake cycles along geometrically complex faults and subduction zones. He obtained his PhD degree from University of California, Riverside in 2006 and has been a faculty member at Texas A&M University since 2007.
