Dear SCEC Community & Friends,

If you missed the October 16 Virtual Town Hall, the recording is now available here. The session offers helpful insights into the 2026 SCEC Collaboration Plan, including guidance on proposal submissions and the formation of Technical Activity Groups (TAGs).

As a reminder, the first proposal call for the 2026 Collaboration Plan is now open, with submissions due by November 15, 2025. This call marks an important transition for SCEC as we welcome incoming Director Ahmed Elbanna and continue to pursue new funding opportunities.

What This Call Supports:

This first phase focuses on sustaining the SCEC community and preserving critical capabilities. It invites proposals for workshops and activities that:
  • Conclude major research initiatives
  • Showcase Community Earth Models
  • Strengthen integration of data, simulations, and applications
  • Advance science milestones under SCEC’s four research thrusts
  • Promote community engagement and workforce development
Note: This call does not fund new research projects.
We also welcome Letters of Intent (LOIs) to form Technical Activity Groups (TAGs)—interdisciplinary teams focused on integrative science with societal impact. LOIs are also due November 15, 2025, and will help coordinate efforts ahead of the second proposal call in early 2026.

We encourage all members of the SCEC community to get involved—whether by submitting a proposal, forming a TAG, or simply staying informed.

Thank you for being part of this exciting next chapter for SCEC!

Warm regards,

SCEC Science Steering Committee
