Dear SCEC Community,

Please mark your calendars for SCEC2026, which will take place in the Palm Springs area from August 30 to September 2—the week before Labor Day weekend. Abstract submissions and early registration are due August 3, so please plan your summer schedules accordingly.

SCEC (the Statewide California Earthquake Center) is a collaborative research and education hub that brings together experts across geoscience and related fields to advance our understanding of earthquake processes and apply that knowledge to reduce societal impacts in California and beyond. Each year, the SCEC Annual Meeting convenes a global community engaged in earthquake-related research, education, and outreach to showcase SCEC-funded research and projects, foster collaboration among scientists, stakeholders, and sponsors, and spotlight featured speakers whose work helps inspire future SCEC directions. Early-career scientists and students comprise over 40% of attendees, making the meeting an especially valuable venue for connection, mentoring, and visibility.

We hope you’ll be there to share your work, connect with colleagues, and help drive the next wave of earthquake science.
