QuakeHack 2025: The First Statistical Seismology Hackathon
|
We are thrilled to announce QuakeHack, the first statistical seismology hackathon for early-career scientists!
|
From May 4th to 9th, 2025 in Castasegna (Switzerland), QuakeHack will bring together early-career scientists, including PhD students, with diverse backgrounds to work in groups on unsolved high-risk, high-impact questions in statistical seismology.
|
This event is different from most workshops: the participants will define the projects at the beginning of the hackathon. Therefore, applicants will be asked to describe what they contribute to the event (in terms of ideas, hard and soft skills, datasets, research questions, codes, etc). This is the most important selection criterion for our limited workshop spots.

Geoscience Teaching Assistant Professor – University of Alabama
|
The Department of Geological Sciences at The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, seeks to hire a renewable contract assistant professor (RCAP) beginning August 2025. The primary responsibilities of this position will be teaching and service, though some research contributions are expected. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Geology or a related field. The position is structured as a renewable 9 month, 3-year contract with an annual performance review that will allow for promotion through the academic ranks.
