Dear SCEC Community,

The Statewide California Earthquake Center (SCEC) is accepting applications for Summer 2025 Undergraduate Internships. These immersive opportunities provide students with hands-on research experience, skill-building workshops, and one-on-one mentorship with leading earthquake science experts from over 90 institutions.

Undergraduate students interested in earthquake science have the opportunity to apply for two internship programs:

The SURE program pairs students one-on-one with scientists, to participate in specialized research at the scientist’s institution or field site.

The SOURCES program is a remote, mentored research experience accessible nationwide that allows participants the opportunity to gain experience regardless of geographic location or availability of local researchers.

Program Highlights:
  • Engage in cutting-edge research advancing earthquake science.
  • Build professional skills through career talks and weekly workshops.
  • Present your findings at a scientific conference.
  • Earn a $700 weekly stipend, with potential to extend into the academic year.
To learn more and apply, visit the new SCEC Internships webpage (https://www.scec.org/internships/).

Applications are open to undergraduate students nationwide, across all grade levels and STEM disciplines, with priority given to submissions received by February 16, 2025.
