Dear SCEC Community,

on behalf of Phillip G. Resor, SGTD OPA Committee

It’s not too late to nominate your favorite California earthquake paper for the 2025 Geological Society of America Structure and Tectonics Division Outstanding Publication Award.

The nomination process is simple and comprises three components:

(1) A full citation.
(2) Nomination (as short as a paragraph; letters or reviews may also be included).
Nominations might address these questions:
• Why is the publication exceptional?
• How has the contribution changed your work?
• What are specific advances made by the publication?
• How has the work influenced the work of others?
(3) Name and address of nominator.

Nominations are due on March 1st, 2025. Please send nominations (or questions) to: presor@wesleyan.edu

More information on the Outstanding Publication Award, including a list of past winners, can be found on the GSA SGT Division webpage.

The Outstanding Publication Award is not limited to members of the Division or the Society, and awardees may be single or multiple authors, with no restrictions as to nationality, citizenship, publisher or publishing agency. The award may not be given posthumously unless the decision to give the award is made before the death of the awardee(s).

Thank you,

Phil Resor (Chair, Wesleyan University)
Julie Fosdick (Committee member, University of Connecticut)
Pete Lippert (Committee member, University of Utah)
