Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

Paleoseismology in Parkfield, CA

Date: 10/16/2007

Forwarded message from Nathan Toke and Ramon Arrowsmith, ASU:

Attention SCEC geologists with students interested in paleoseismic trenching experience,

Nathan Toke and Ramon Arrowsmith will be opening a Paleoseismic trench along the southwest fracture zone in Parkfield, CA later this week and I will be working there though November 4th.

I (Nate) am in need of some field assistance near the end of the field season from October 31st(Wednesday)-November 4th (Sunday). This a perfect opportunity for a new graduate student who needs some experience prior to their field work or an experienced undergrad who is thinking about this line of research or work in the future... or if there are any PIs that have free time and are generally interested in the history of earthquakes along the Parkfield segment over the last few thousand years time scale. We can provide room and board in Parkfield and perhaps gas money to and from Parkfield.

Thank you for your assistance. Please contact Nate (best reached by phone) and ramon.arrowsmith@asu.edu
