APRU 5th Research Symposium on "Multi-Hazards around the Pacific Rim" (Aug 17-18, 2009)

Dear colleagues,

As you may be aware, National Taiwan University will be hosting APRU's upcoming 5th Research Symposium on "Multi-Hazards around the Pacific Rim - Earthquake, Tsunami, Volcanic and Geological Hazards and Approaches for Mitigation" from August 17 to 18, 2009. More details on the symposium are now available. Please find attached information on the program, registration and call for papers. Interested participants who would like to submit an abstract may wish to note that the deadline for submission is May 31, 2009.

You are strongly encouraged to participate in this research symposium. Interested participants can register for the symposium regardless of abstract submission and no registration fee is applicable. Researchers of APRU member universities from the fields of seismology, volcanology, earth and environmental sciences, civil engineering and/or related social sciences such as disaster information studies, are invited to register online via the conference website at: http://seismology.gl.ntu.edu.tw/2009AARS.htm. The deadline for registration of the symposium is July 15, 2009. Enquiries can be sent to National Taiwan University at: drymwu@ntu.edu.tw.

An optional field trip to places such the Ta-An River Gorge, Shihkang Dam and Chiufenerhshan Landslide, is also being planned for August 19 and 20. Details can be found in the attached pdf document. A fee of USD 150 is applicable for the field trip.
