Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

Workshop on Earthquake Source Dynamics

Date: 12/03/2009

Forwarded workshop announcement from Ralph Archuleta, UCSB:

The third workshop on Earthquake Source Dynamics will be held June 27-July 1, 2010, at the Smolenice Castle in Slovakia. The attached pdf gives more details about the workshop. The primary difference in this workshop is that research centered on constraining the parameters that go into dynamic simulations is strongly encouraged. There continues to be an emphasis on dynamic simulations and what they predict about faulting and seismic radiation.

For further information about the workshop please look at the website:

Thanks to a grant from the National Science Foundation travel funds are available for US participants to attend the workshop. While the distribution of funds will be equitably distributed based on costs, the NSF strongly encourages early career scientists and those who will foster diversity to apply for travel funds.

Two dates are important:

Registration is March 31, 2010.

Deadline for applying for travel support is March 10, 2010.

To apply for travel support please send an email (please put "Earthquake Source Dynamics" into the email subject line) to Ralph Archuleta (ralph@crustal.ucsb.edu) providing him with the following information:

Name:
Email:
Address of Department and University/College:
Current Position (graduate student, researcher, assistant professor, etc.):
Approximate (or exact) airfare:
Approximate title of presentation:

Only those persons who plan to stay for the entire workshop will receive travel support.
