(1) Field Engineer

UNAVCO, a Boulder based company, invites applications for the FULL-TIME position of FIELD ENGINEER to work at our UNAVCO office in Boulder, Colorado. This individual will work within the UNAVCO Facility Engineering Group to provide technical and field engineering support to the National Science Foundation and National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Travel domestically and internationally for extended periods deploying on short notice.
* Specifies station configurations and data collection strategies and develops related cost estimates and project budgets.
* Identifies and solves technical issues related to hardware, software and data communications, trouble-shoots hardware, software and logistics.
* Hands-on oversight of design, fabrication, integration, testing, documentation and repair of hardware and software.

QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geophysics or similar field or equivalent experience required.
* A minimum of three years experience required.

Desired
* Experience in processing GPS data and analyzing results.
* Commercial driver's license.

(2) Development and Testing Engineer

UNAVCO, a Boulder based company, invites applications for the FULL-TIME position of DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING ENGINEER to work at our UNAVCO office in Boulder, Colorado. This individual will work within the UNAVCO Facility Engineering Group to provide technical and engineering support to the National Science Foundation and National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Conducts field and laboratory tests of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers, antennas, power sources, communications equipment, computer systems, and ancillary equipment to support permanent GNSS installations and episodic campaign surveys.
* Provides GNSS data processing as needed to assess stability of new station installations and testing GNSS receivers and antennas.
* Assists with development of advanced station technologies, such as data communications systems, power systems, secure computer systems, data-download systems and hardened field systems, as required in supporting projects.
* Coordinates software and firmware acceptance testing, version control and maintain repository of commonly used software tools.
* Contributes to the engineering support and oversees the knowledge base sections of the UNAVCO web site including GNSS receiver software download support and documentation, field procedures, equipment support.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree in geophysics, geodesy, engineering or similar field or equivalent experience required.
* A minimum of three years of relevant experience in GNSS applications, or equivalent education and experience.
* Valid driver's license and a UNAVCO-insurable driving record.
