Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

Mendenhall Postdoc Opportunity: #S26

Date: 12/12/2016

On behalf of Russell Graymer, U.S. Geological Survey
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear colleagues,

I want to draw your particular attention to a Mendenhall postdoc that we currently have available. The 2 (possibly extended to 3) year position would involve creating a 3D geologic map of the Central California Coast Ranges and using it as a basis for a 3D seismic velocity model (3DSVM). The 3DSVM would then form the basis for the second (and possibly third) year of research into reducing uncertainties in earthquake hazard models related to path effects, including collaboration with seismologists and process modelers.

If you have or know of recently graduated or about to graduate doctoral students with interest in regional tectonics and structural geology, please encourage them to consider this position. The application deadline is February 2, 2017. Please encourage potential applicants to get in touch with me or Brad Aagaard (cc'd on this e-mail) so we can help focus their applications.

The application website is accessed through the Mendenhall postdoc webpage:
