Dear SCEC,

The USGS has just opened three regional program manager positions to help support Earthquake Early Warning efforts. Could you please help us spread the word? We're hoping to reach as many folks as possible this week, as the application period is only open this week and next. Many thanks in advance for helping us reach as many folks as we can as quickly as possible:)

Best regards,
Valerie

The USGS Earthquake Science Center (Menlo Park, Pasadena, and Seattle Offices) are hiring to support the mission of the Earthquake Early Warning Project.

The USGS is seeking motivated candidates for the Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) Regional Program Manager position. These positions are being offered in Menlo Park, Pasadena, and Seattle, and involve the management and operation of the ShakeAlert system (shakealert.org) in cooperation with university partners at each of the regional seismic networks.

These positions are part of a USGS-university team that is building, operating and maintaining ShakeAlert. The Regional Project Manager has broad responsibility for coordinating and overseeing the EEW regional buildout as well as the development and operation of the ShakeAlert system. They will manage, contribute to and participate in regional EEW operations, including overseeing the buildout and the process of incorporating stations into ShakeAlert, the operation of the production system, and the review of its performance. They will interact with participants from other organizations and coordinate the Project’s activities and contributions with them.

Openings for these full-time, permanent positions are being advertised as either a Physical Scientist (1301), Geophysicist (1313) or Geodesist (1373) at either the GS-12 or GS-13 grade. Positions are available in the Menlo Park, Pasadena, and Seattle offices of the Earthquake Science Center. US citizenship is required. Only online applications will be accepted. The federal government is an equal opportunity employer. Please be sure to submit all the requested materials, including transcripts.

The deadline for applications is Friday, December 23, 2016 (Happy Holidays!).
