Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

Registration Open, PSHA Workshop in Switzerland

Date: 06/26/2017

On Behalf of the Swiss Seismological Service, ETH Zurich:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear SCEC Community,

the Swiss Seismological Service at ETH Zurich is glad to announce that the registration for the PSHA Workshop in Switzerland is now open and will close on 11 August 2017. As space is limited, registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. We suggest to register as soon as possible.

This unique workshop will bring together 100 to 150 leading experts on Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment (PSHA) from around the globe to discuss the current state of practice as well as future directions in a holistic context.

Learn more about current projects on local, national and transnational scales and help to shape the next generation of a harmonized European hazard model. Gain insights into emerging challenges such as time-dependence, earthquake interactions, anthropogenic seismicity, model validation, simulation based PSHA, communication of hazard results and procedural requirements for ensuring robustness, especially in the context of PSHA for critical facilities.

Distinguished keynote speakers will introduce a range of topics, but we also call for solicited contributions. The workshop will take place in a truly beautiful location, the medieval castle of Lenzburg about 20 minutes by train from Zurich. We are confident that the combination of excellent science with an inimitable location will make this a memorable event with lasting impact.

Further information about the program, confirmed keynote speakers, accommodation, as well as on deadlines for abstract submission and fellowship application are compiled in the preliminary program and on the workshop website.

If you have any further requests, do not hesitate to send us an email at psha_workshop@sed.ethz.ch.

Kind regards from the local organizing committee,
Stefan Wiemer, Domenico Giardini, Florian Haslinger, and Laurentiu Danciu
