Postdoctoral position in modelling of induced seismicity

We seek a qualified and highly motivated individual to conduct innovative research in the area of induced seismicity. The position is to enhance and strengthen our research efforts in understanding induced seismicity in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin and elsewhere. This is a part of a multi-institutional NSERC CRD research grant (www.inducedseismicity.ca) led by the research groups of Prof. Gail Atkinson and Prof. Robert Shcherbakov at Western University, London, Ontario, Canada.

The position assumes the development of multidisciplinary approaches to study induced seismicity. Possible research topics include, but are not limited to, statistical modelling of induced seismicity, geomechanical modelling of fluid-rock interaction and relation to seismicity, probabilistic earthquake hazard assessment and forecasting.

The successful applicant is expected to have a PhD degree in Geophysics, Seismology, Earthquake Engineering, or a closely related field. Strong computer programming and data analysis skills are required.
