Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

Date: 07/25/2018

On Behalf of Nadia Lapusta, Caltech:

Subject: 2019 GeoProc International Conference on Earthquake and Faulting Mechanics

Dear Colleagues,

Through this announcement, we would like to alert those working in rock, fault, and earthquake mechanics and/or on coupled thermo-hydro-mechano-chemical processes to the 2019 GeoProc International Conference, which will be held at Utrecht University in The Netherlands from 3 to 5 July 2019.

For more information, please go to the GeoProc2019 website: https://geoproc2019.sites.uu.nl/

GeoProc2019 will be the 7th International Conference in the GeoProc series of conferences on coupled Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical-Chemical (THMC) Processes, with the theme for 2019 being the role of such processes in Earthquake and Faulting Mechanics.

It will be hosted by the HPT Lab team at Utrecht University. The Conference Chairs are Chris Spiers (Utrecht University), Jean Sulem (Ecole des Ponts ParisTech), and Klaus Regenauer-Lieb (University of New South Wales). The Local Organizers are Jianye Chen, André Niemeijer, and Suzanne Hangx.

GeoProc has a history since 2003 of bringing together top scientists and engineers to advance understanding of the role of THMC processes in controlling geosystem behavior. The 2019 theme on Earthquake and Faulting Mechanics is intended to attract experimental, theoretical and modeling scientists, as well as experts in the field of seismic hazard assessment, to come together to address common issues in fault and earthquake mechanics relevant to both natural and induced seismicity.

We hope you will consider attending and contributing to GeoProc2019, here in The Netherlands, home of the seismogenic Groningen gas field.

For futher information, please do not hesitate us (Jianye Chen, geoproc2019@uu.nl).

Want to send an announcement to the SCEC community?
SCEC community announcement requests should be sent to scecinfo@usc.edu (no attachments) with the following requirements, in order to best standardize announcements and provide maximum security for recipients. These requirements also ensure that various email applications and any applied filters reach the recipient as the announcement was intended.
1) Use this style guide :
• All text must be in Helvetica, 12 pt.
• Bold, italics, and underline formatting is permitted.
• Consider the length of web links; use bit.ly or tinyurl.com to shorten them as needed.
• NO PDFs, Word Docs, images, or other attachments - all content must be in the email request itself.
2) Include a subject line.

3) Remember, send your request to scecinfo@usc.edu.

We strive to send announcements as soon as possible. In general, expect a 2-3 business day turn-around. We may also combine announcements with others, delay sending certain announcements due to current events, and even reject requests if they do not fit the needs of the SCEC community.
