Project Abstract
This SCEC Project supported the deployment of four nodal seismic lines as part of the BASIN project. The purpose is to improve the ground motion prediction of a potential southern San Andreas Fault earthquake.
Intellectual Merit With the four deployments covered by this award, we were able to complete the BASIN surveys.
Broader Impacts The deployments ere accomplished more than 40 volunteers from a half-dozen institutions. Each deployment at a private residence required the volunteers to explain the significance of the project and earthquake research in general to the homeowner.
Exemplary Figure Figure 2 shows the recording of a small earthquake near Brea, CA by the SB1 node line. The benefits of a dense line is that this looks like an unaliased wavefield
