Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

About Me Publications
I am currently a Junior at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. The UseIT internship was an eye opening experience that inspired me to pursue a major solely in Computer Science.
Previously,….
Through the 2019 UseIT Internship opportunity, I was able to work on the Machine Learning Team where we implemented Machine Learning Algorithms such as Logistic Regression, a Random Forest Classifier, and a Neural Network. We attempted to predict the likelihood of an earthquake of Magnitude 7.0 or greater occurring at any of the 33 fault sections on the San Andreas Fault System (San Andreas, San Jacinto, Elsinore, or Hayward fault). We scored and visualized our results through a co-variance matrix, ROC curves, log-likelihood scores, and a bootstrap method. We hope in the future that Machine Learning algorithms are able to predict future earthquakes in order to save millions of people before a disastrous event occurs.
Personally, I enjoy spontaneous adventures, Latin dancing, and spending time with friends. On a more professional note, I am looking for a career within Data Science, and would be interested in implementing more Artificial Intelligence algorithms in my next opportunity.
If you’d like to connect, I’m available on LinkedIn (check my website link).
