Jason serves as Communications Manager for the Southern California Earthquake Center, (SCEC) headquartered at the University of Southern California (USC), where he champions SCEC science to help people better prepare to survive and recover from earthquakes. Notably, Jason helps to coordinate and support Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills, TsunamiZone.org, Earthquake Country Alliance, and numerous other science, risk, and crisis communications objectives as pertaining to SCEC research through a variety of unified channels, including but not limited to: social media, email, media relations, web, and events and displays. He continues to draw on research fields in marketing, advertising, and social science to improve SCEC's reach and impact, and also leads the GeoHazards Messaging Collaboratory effort, a communications partnership effort between the USGS, NOAA, IRIS, UNAVCO, and FEMA. From his artistic background to his professional aplomb and energetic personality, Jason understands every angle of the art and science of communication. For more than 10 years, Jason has enjoyed a rewarding, innovative career in communications, managing and developing digital marketing and public relations efforts in the non-profit and entertainment industries. In 2013, Jason received his Master of Music in Composition from the University of Southern California, and in 2011, his Bachelor of Music in Composition degree from Southern Methodist University.
