Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

About Me Publications
Lauren Lewright is a 3rd-year undergraduate student at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is pursuing a major in earth science with an emphasis in geophysics. After graduating UCSB, Lauren plans on attending graduate school to obtain a PhD in a field of study related to geophysics and seismology. She one day hopes to use her knowledge and background in earth science to conduct her own research, possibly on the motion of tectonic plates and the natural disasters that occur because of their movement. In the summer of 2021, Lauren is interning with SCEC SOURCES and working with Dr. John Louie at the University of Nevada, Reno to study non-ergotic physics based earthquake hazard models for Nevada cities. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, surfing, and just generally enjoying the beautiful outdoors that surrounds the UCSB campus.
