Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

About Me Publications
Mercedes Quintana was an intern for SCEC for summer 2021 and is returning for the summer 2022. She is currently attending Pasadena Community College.

Last summer, Mercedes worked on mapping the near-field surface fracturing of the 2019 Ridgecrest rupture and extended the project into HDBSCAN clustering analysis using Jupyter Notebooks and Python. Mercedes presented a poster for this work at the 2022 Seismological Society of America Annual Meeting. Currently, Mercedes is developing tools for automated fault displacement profile generation using MATLAB.

Outside professional activities, Mercedes enjoys reading fantasy novels, finding the best places to set up a hammock, and hunting for the best coffee shops.
