Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

About Me Publications
I was born in Japan and moved to California, Palo Alto when I was 3 years old. I recently graduated from CaƱada College and will be transferring to UC San Diego as a Computer Science major. My interest in Computer Science is focused on machine learning and AI, but the topic of Earthquakes have been interesting to me after the 9.0 magnitude earthquake in Japan as well as knowing the lingering possibilities of earthquakes in California. With Computer Science, I hope to get more women involved in STEM, specifically in tech, so that there will be more inclusivity and less feelings of not belonging. What influenced me and opened my eyes more towards hope in fixing this problem was after attending a women organized women only Hackathon called SheHacks. It made me want more women to experience a more welcoming and comfortable environment like this one. I would also like to help community college students get more opportunities and recognition from companies and internships. I hope to stay in California, while also exploring my options and potentially moving around for a bit.
