Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

About Me Publications
Vanessa is a 2022 SCEC SOURCES intern and prospective May 2023 graduate of a Bachelor's degree in Geophysics. Highly motivated and successful individual with eleven years of project management experience and two years of management experience. Looking to apply her knowledge and passion for geology to transition to a career in the industry.

Vanessa is currently majoring in Geophysics at San Diego State University in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree and eventually, a master’s degree. With this degree she can pursue a career in the field of seismology, which interests her as it is a field of study where we can better understand our planet's past, present, and future. Vanessa's career goal is to collaborate with a team of geoscientists to study seismic events in high-risk areas (i.e., areas with active volcanoes, major faults) in efforts to better prepare communities/populations for disastrous events, mitigate seismic hazards, and investigate the probability and extent of future events. Eventually, pairing her exceptional experience as a globally certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and organizational leader with her future degree in Geophysics, Vanessa would like to venture into ownership by establishing a Geophysical consulting firm.
