Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

Attachment: Final Agenda for October 18-19 Western US GPS/NSMP Workshop

Dear all:

The USGS is currently updating the National Seismic Hazard maps that are planned for release in 2014. These maps will be considered as the basis for future U.S. building codes.  A geodetic workshop will be held October 18-19, 2012 (beginning in the afternoon on the 18th) in Newark, CA (San Francisco Bay area) at the corporate headquarters of RMS:

        Pacific Research Center
        Dumbarton Conference Room (2nd Floor)
        7677 Gateway Blvd
        Newark, CA 94560
        (http://www.pacificresearchcenter.com/)

In this workshop we will consider new western U.S. geodetic deformation models.  This workshop will follow the California workshop, which will be held on October 17-18 (morning) and consider the new UCERF 3 model.

We invite all interested parties to participate in this workshop. Attached is the final agenda for the workshop.  If you have further questions, please contact the workshop conveners (Mark Petersen, Ned Field, Yuehua Zeng) or Cassandra Brew (Cassandra.Brew@rms.com) who is handling logistics for the meeting.  We look forward to discussions on geodetic input to these new earthquake source models.
