Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

Invitation for the SCEC Community: ECA 20th Anniversary Event (Zoom)

Date: 08/24/2023

Dear SCEC Community,

In Summer 2003, SCEC's Communication, Education, and Outreach program convened a meeting at USC with key government, academic, business, and non-profit partners to launch the Earthquake Country Alliance (ECA). Our initial goal was to coordinate activities for the 10th anniversary of the Northridge Earthquake. Since then, SCEC-led ECA initiatives have included: creating and leading annual Great California ShakeOut Drills; connecting ECA statewide in partnership with groups in the Bay Area and North Coast; creating multi-lingual documents with inclusive safety guidance; organizing many workshops, webinars, and trainings each year; developing resources for utilizing earthquake scenario information; and much more.

To commemorate ECA's 20th Anniversary, you are invited to join SCEC and ECA leaders, members, and invited guests as we recognize our accomplishments, acknowledge key leaders and partner organizations, and share exciting plans for the years ahead!
