Assistant Professor in Hydrogeophysics, Louisiana State University
The Department of Geology and Geophysics at Louisiana State University invites applications for a tenure-track Hydrogeophysicist at the level of Assistant Professor. We seek either a geophysicist who works on water-related topics or a hydrogeologist who uses geophysical methods. The research focus area may include a broad range of earth and/or planetary settings. Collaborative opportunities at LSU include the College of Science, College of Engineering, College of Coast and the Environment, and the Energy Institute. LSU’s Center for Computation and Technology offers powerful platforms for research with a substantial computational component.
Successful candidates will be expected to establish and maintain a vigorous, independent extramurally funded research program and to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in the area of their expertise. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geophysics, Earth Science, or related field at the time of appointment. Postdoctoral experience and a record of successful independent research is preferred. Applicants should submit their cover letter, Curriculum Vitae, statements of research and teaching interests, and three references who can provide letters of recommendation at a future date. After submission, applicants should fill in the subsequent screening questionnaire to complete their application.

[SZ4D] REMINDER: 2027 Chile & Argentina Field Trip - Apply by Nov 2
One week left to apply for the 2027 SZNet Chile & Argentina Field Trip
Application Deadline: November 2, 2026
Join an international team of scientists for a 10-day field trip across the Southern Central Andes, exploring the links between the latitudinal transition from normal to flat-slab subduction and surface hazards.
The field trip will compare two complementary transects across the Andes, from the Principal Cordillera near Santiago in Chile to Mendoza in Argentina. Field activities will focus on active and potentially active faults, volcanism and hydrothermal systems, landslides and other mass movements, glacial and geomorphic features, and evidence of tectonic deformation.
