Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

UCERF4 Planning Workshop

Conveners: Ned Field and the Working Group on California Earthquake Probabilities
Dates: April 15, 2020 Postponed/cancelled due to COVID-19
Location: Kellogg West Conference Center, Pomona, California

SUMMARY: Building on a June 2019 workshop titled Assessing UCERF3 and Planning for an Eventual UCERF4, this workshop will summarize current plans for UCERF4.  The time-independent version of the model (UCERF4-TI) needs to be submitted for publication/review by Dec. 2021 and finalized/published by Dec. 2022 (the long-term, time-dependent model, UCERF4-TD, will follow these deadlines by one year).  The first half of the workshop will involve UCERF4 developers giving overviews of what we plan to accomplish for the various model elements, leaving the afternoon for other workshop participants to provide comments and feedback via lightning-style talks, the latter of which could lead to course corrections.  Again, we will assume that all attendees are familiar with UCERF3, and we recommend that attendees also review the possible improvements described in https://doi.org/10.1785/0220180151. Please contact Ned Field (field@usgs.gov) if you need a copy of this document or if you would like to make a presentation at this workshop.
