Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

2nd call for mentors for SCEC interns

Date: 11/16/2006

Greetings, SCEC scientists,

We are about to start recruiting for summer 2007 SCEC interns (http://www.scec.org/internships). It is exceedingly helpful to recruit students with information about actual mentors and projects. Thus, if you are potentially interested in being a 2007 mentor to a SURE (Summer Undergraduate Research Experience) student, please follow the guidelines below and contact me now about your student project.

Thanks and regards,

Sue Perry (perry@gps.caltech.edu, perry@usc.edu)

----- TO BECOME A 2007 SCEC/SURE MENTOR
No later than Nov 22, 2006, send an email to Sue Perry with the following information:
1) A one paragraph project description, which will be posted on the internship website for potential candidates. The description should include a statement of the scientific problem, research location, student responsibilities, necessary skills and educational preparation;
2) The certainty of your availability, and if you are not 100% certain, when you will know for sure;
3) The general time span when your intern would need to be available;
4) Whether you have mentor time, funding, and projects for more than one intern (and if so, how many).
