Geodesy / Seismotectonics / Geodynamics

The Department of Geological Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the areas of geodynamics, seismotectonics or geodesy. We seek candidates whose interests lie in understanding regional to continental scale active tectonics, crust-mantle interaction, viscous and fluid flow in the mantle and crust, orogenic processes, and the origin and evolution of stress in the lithosphere. We encourage application of candidates with experience in geodynamical data acquisition and analysis, including the use of InSAR, GPS, seismology, and potential fields, as well as those whose interests lie in numerical modeling of geodynamic processes.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. at the time of appointment and postdoctoral and teaching experience is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program and to demonstrate excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
