Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

2nd Workshop on the Numerical Modeling of Earthquake Source Dynamics

Date: 03/15/2007

Dear friends and colleagues,

We would like to remind you of the dates and organization of the 2nd Workshop on the Numerical Modeling of Earthquake Source Dynamics, NMESD 2007,which will be held on September 2-6, 2007 in the Smolenice Castle near Bratislava, Slovakia.

Please, look at

http://www.nuquake.eu/NMESD2007/

for detailed information. This site may say first announcement; the second announcement will be posted very shortly.

This is our first email message. It is not meant to be exclusive, so please pass this message on to anyone you think might be interested in attending. We particularly encourage early career scientists and graduate students to attend.

There will be some financial support for travel for US scientists thanks to the generosity of the NSF. The amount of support per person is yet to be determined. If you are interested in attending and will need financial support, please send me (Ralph Archuleta) an email with "Numerical Modeling Workshop" somewhere in the subject line.

Please note two dates: Deadline for Registration is May 31, 2007. Also note that the SCEC annual meeting is Sept. 10-12 (so plan accordingly); the proximity in timing was unavoidable for us to have access to the beautiful Smolenice Castle. September 6 is meant to be a travel day following the workshop that will end its official business late on September 5.

Chairman of the Steering Committee
