Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

Date: 05/10/2007

Postdoctoral Scholar in Structural Geology and Geomechanics at Stanford University

Candidates should have research experience in structural and field geology and in the application of continuum mechanics and numerical modeling to the evolution of geological structures. Potential projects include: 1) analysis of fault/fold/fracture relationships using field data, ALSM data, and FEM modeling; 2) analysis of compaction band generation and propagation using field data and BEM modeling; and 3) development of 3D BEM codes for all modes of fracture with cohesion and friction using complementarity algorithms.

Send inquires by email and application materials as email attachments in pdf format to David Pollard (dpollard@pangea.stanford.edu) including a statement of research interests, curriculum vitae, and the contact information for three references.
