Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

There are three internship programs available through SCEC. UseIT and SURE take place during the summer. ACCESS is a year-round program. Please read through the information on each to see which is most applicable to you and your interests. The due date for priority consideration for the SURE and UseIT programs is Friday 27 February. Applications will be accepted after the 27th and you will be considered for any remaining spots not filled by priority candidates. ACCESS applications are accepted all year long.

SCEC Internship Programs:

1)The Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) pairs individual interns with scientists who have a similar field of interest. During the summer, interns conduct a research project under the guidance of their mentor. Projects are available throughout the country and are open to undergraduate juniors and seniors.

2)The Undergraduate Studies in Earthquake Information Technology (UseIT) program takes place at the University of Southern California and is open to undergraduate sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are interested in working with other students as a team to develop technical tools that communicate important earthquake-related concepts.

3)The Advancement of Cyberinfrastructure Careers through Earthquake System Science (ACCESS) program offers graduate students, as well as undergraduate juniors and seniors, the opportunity to work with earthquake science professionals to develop the cyberinfrastructure necessary for solving fundamental problems in earthquake system science.

More information and the online application for each program is at www.scec.org/internships. We hope to see you this summer. Good luck in your endeavors!
