Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

Resignation Announcement

Date: 08/31/2022

Dear SCEC Community,

Dr. Christine Goulet, SCEC’s Executive Director for Applied Science, announced late last week that she will resign from SCEC to pursue a new career path, with her last day being September 30.

During her 6 years with SCEC, Christine has made significant contributions including coordinating developments and applications of our computational frameworks such as the CyberShake and Broadband platforms, leadership of a well-supported and productive research program in applied earthquake science, and success in obtaining significant high-performance computing allocations from top supercomputer facilities nationwide. These accomplishments will continue to benefit SCEC (and earthquake research in general) for many years.

Christine has begun the process of transferring leadership of these activities to other SCEC staff, and we do not expect any disruptions. We remain committed to ensuring that our science contributes to improved estimates of seismic hazard and other fundamental applications, and will carefully consider how to continue the efforts led by Christine to accomplish the Center’s goals.

Please join us in thanking Christine and wishing her the best in her future endeavors.
