Project Abstract
Prediction of earthquakes is a major goal of earthquake science. This work paved the way to forecasting and prediction using numerical simulations.
Intellectual Merit Developed theory and methods to forecast great earthquakes using numerical simulations.
Broader Impacts Earthquake forecasts can be used to set earthquake insurance rates and to evaluate the safety of cat bonds.
