Intellectual Merit We directly address SCEC's goal to seek understanding of “the physical basis for connections between earthquakes” and “of some aspect of extended earthquake predictability” . We directly examine the hypothesis that fault interaction plays a first-order role in the timing, and thus predictability of earthquakes (A6).
Broader Impacts Involvement of graduate students and international collaborations with junior female colleague. Undergraduates are exposed to results.
