Intellectual Merit The slip-rate of the northern San Jacinto fault is poorly known, yet it has major implications for how deformation is distributed across the complex plate boundary in southern California. Our efforts to measure the slip rate of the northern San Jacinto fault will shed light on how the complex transform plate boundary in southern California has evolved over time.
Broader Impacts Four undergraduate students were involved in this project as field assistants during geologic mapping and collection of Be-10 samples. An additional 3 undergraduate students are enrolled in a class to conduct geologic mapping of the landslides offset across the San Jacinto fault.
