As a response to the occurrence of the El Mayor-Cucapah (EMC) earthquake M_w7.2 on April 4, 2010, the physical realization of the Red Geodésica del Noroeste de México (REGNOM; http://regnom.cicese.mx/), consolidated with 29 permanent GNSS/GPS stations, has not only strengthened the CICESE’s seismic network infrastructure, but also seismic research projects. This was successfully achieved thanks to the efforts of the international collaboration among colleagues from different agencies in both sides of the US-Mexico international border. Since most of the carried-out studies about the EMC postseismic deformation have been performed by using GPS stations located mainly in the US side, REGNOM Ne...twork data distribution is crucial to study crustal deformation and its postseismic transient processes in Northern Baja California (NBC) - Southern California (SoCal) region.

Here we obtained the NBC crustal velocity field from April 2010 to December 2022, aimed to study the interseismic and postseismic processes as afterslip and viscoelastic relaxation in a regional and local context, velocity gradients and seismic moment accumulation along main fault systems of the Mexicali Valley. We also complement the NBC velocity with the Nevada Geodetic Laboratory GPS-solutions, from sites located in SoCal (Lat. <33.5°), to build a homogenous regional velocity field, looking forward to contributing with the SCEC-Community Geodetic Model in northern Baja California. 3D time series analysis is used to separate signals associated with tectonic activity by implementing the independent component analysis method. This is helpful to analyze the temporal evolution (>10 yr) and spatial distribution of such transient-aseismic processes during the postseismic relaxation period of the EMC event.
