Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

2013 Use of UCERF3 in the USGS National Seismic Hazard Maps #2

Conveners: Ned Field and the Working Group on California Earthquake Probabilities
Dates: February 21, 2013
Location: USGS Menlo Park Campus

We will present the current state of the WGCEP’s UCERF3 time-independent model (http://www.wgcep.org), and to gauge consensus on its applicability for use in the 2014 update of the USGS National Seismic Hazard Map (NSHM; http://earthquake.usgs.gov/hazards). Much of the methodological details of the UCERF3 model was covered at the October 2012 workshop. Thus, this meeting will focus primarily on changes to earthquake rates and their implications for seismic hazard.

There is no cost to attend the workshop, and it is open to all. Please note that this is a scientific working meeting, and not focused on policy or outreach issues.
