2018 Community Geodetic Model Workshop

SUMMARY: Throughout the life of the CGM project, we have used a mixture of in-person and virtual workshops (i.e., videoconferences) to plan work, check progress, and share results. While the videoconferences help maintain momentum between in-person meetings, workshops promote efficient dialogue and exchange of ideas, serving to keep participants engaged and focused on the project goals. Our most recent workshop, held in Pomona in January 2016 (https://www.scec.org/workshops/2016/cgm), was highly productive in bringing together the GPS- and InSAR-focused participants to review new developments and evaluate how the pieces of this multi-faceted project fit together.

We will hold a two-day CGM workshop to review the results of the GPS time series compilation, GPS site-velocity comparison, construction of consensus interferograms, and InSAR LOS velocity calculation. We will identify the target work for 2018, which is envisioned to include generation of a consensus GPS velocity field interpolated onto a grid and InSAR time series analyses to characterize time-varying motion. We will also assess any observational or methodological gaps that must be addressed in order to carry out the 2018 work plan.
