Dr. Chanseok Jeong-an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at CMU-has extensive research experience in seismic wave propagation analyses and large-scale inverse problems. PI has published 19 journal papers in leading journals in his research areas. PI has developed and taught six undergraduate and five graduate courses in the areas of the FEM, solid mechanics, and numerical methods at CMU, Catholic U. of America (CUA), and U. of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from 2012 to present. PI has received excellent teaching evaluations in all of PI's courses. In May of 2020, PI received the Charles H. Kaman Award for Teaching Excellence, which is given annually at CUA to award an outstanding faculty member. PI has advised research of a number of graduate and undergraduate students and postdoctoral researchers from underrepresented groups at CMU (2020-present), CUA (2013-20), and UCLA (2011-13). PI is currently advising the research works of two postdoctoral researchers and multiple undergraduate students. PI has been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant (CMMI-1855406) `Full-waveform inversion of seismic input motions in a truncated (2D) domain' as a sole PI starting from April 2019 for 2 years in the amount of $143,499 ($64,847 transferred from CUA to CMU in Sep. 2020).
