Dr. Kristine Pankow received her Ph.D. in EarthScience with a Geophysics specialty from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Since 2000, she has worked as a seismologist at the University of Utah. She is currently the Associate Director of the University of Utah Seismograph Stations and a Research Professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics. She is the secretary of the Seismological Society of America, is the Advanced National Seismic System, Regional Coordinator for the Intermountain Region, and is a member of the Utah Mine Safety Technical Advisory Council. Her recent research papers include studies related to the 2020 Magna Utah earthquake, other Utah seismic sequences, developing new seismic detection algorithms, and seismic network operations. Current research projects include continued analysis of Utah and Intermountain seismicity and seismic hazard, seismic monitoring at the Utah Frontier Observatory for Research in Geothermal Energy (FORGE), and new methods to detect and characterize seismic sources.
