Exciting news! We're transitioning to the Statewide California Earthquake Center. Our new website is under construction, but we'll continue using this website for SCEC business in the meantime. We're also archiving the Southern Center site to preserve its rich history. A new and improved platform is coming soon!

About Me Publications
Thomas "Tom" Shea is a fourth year geology student at the University of South Florida. After finishing his bachelor's degree, he plans to attend graduate school to study volcano seismology.

During his 2021 SOURCES internship, Tom worked with his mentor Alba Padilla and three other interns on mapping the surface fracturing of the 2019 Ridgecrest earthquake.

Prior to this project, he worked as an undergraduate research assistant at USF analyzing seismic data from the 1995-2004 eruption of the Soufrière Hills volcano on the island of Montserrat in the Caribbean.

Tom likes the beach, soccer, and going to USF games.
